C. Hood

Catherine M. Hood is a Providence-based visual artist with Pacific Northwest roots.  She studied sculpture and printmaking at Parsons School of Design (NYC) and Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle), and works primarily in installation, drawing, performance, and wearable objects.

Strongly influenced by the scientific method and data visualization processes, her work draws references from such disciplines as particle physics, neuroscience, astrophysics, cosmology, geometry, optics, architecture, anatomy, mapping, and Zen Buddhism. She has collaborated with scientists from Brown University, the LUX Dark Matter Experiment, NASA's Chandra X-Ray Observatory, Frosty Drew Observatory, and the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen.
